Since 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) has designated May 5th as World Hand Hygiene Day to promote Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices through proper hand hygiene and handwashing.
In honor of World Hand Hygiene Day 2026, the Victoria Hospital family proudly organized a commemorative event to raise awareness about the importance of hand hygiene in preventing infections and ensuring patient safety.
During the event, our teams participated in educational sessions as:
✨ The importance of hand hygiene as one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent infection transmission
✨ WHO’s “5 Moments of Hand Hygiene”
✨ Proper handwashing techniques
✨ Systematic Hand Hygiene Audits and staff awareness initiatives to strengthen daily hand hygiene practices
In addition, we celebrated the occasion with:
🎥 A Hand Hygiene-related TikTok Video Contest
🏆 A Hand Hygiene Auditor Contest
🥇 Award presentations for the first, second, and third winners
As we commemorate this meaningful day, Victoria Hospital encourages everyone to continue practicing proper hand hygiene and following WHO’s recommended “5 Moments of Hand Hygiene” in our daily routines to help reduce preventable infections and create a safer healthcare environment for all.
