Let us explain what Gastroscopy is.
Gastroscopy is a diagnostic procedure that uses a thin, flexible tube (endoscope) with a camera to examine the esophagus, stomach, and upper part of the small intestine (duodenum).
Who Should Undergo a Gastroscopy?
Gastroscopy is recommended for individuals who:
- Are over 55 years old and experience chronic indigestion
- Experience sudden unexplained weight loss
- Suffer from long-term stomach-related issues
- Have a family history of stomach cancer
- Have difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing
- Have bleeding in the stomach or esophagus
- Show signs of internal bleeding (e.g., vomiting blood or blood in stool)
- Are suspected of having gastric ulcers or perforations
At Victoria Hospital’s Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit, these screenings are performed by experienced specialists using advanced and modern endoscopic equipment, ensuring safe and accurate diagnosis.
